The Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) consists of a mass block, a spring and a damping system. The vibration frequency of the TMD is tuned to a frequency close to the main structural frequency, changing the resonance characteristics of the structure to achieve a damping effect.
The most common types of TMD dampers are the following two types: viscous TMD dampers, i.e. TMD dampers that use viscous means of energy dissipation, and eddy current TMD dampers, i.e. TMD dampers that use eddy current means of energy dissipation.
