When Peter got upset after Ben’s speech, it perfectly conveyed how it feels for a teen to talk back to a parent/guardian and say things that you may have been wanting to say for a while. Your sentences become short, tears start welling in your eyes before you can stop it, the immediate avoidance of eye contact. It’s incredible acting on so many levels

I loved how realistic this scene was, people have fights like this and I can actually see that happening, I'm sad they didn't keep this series running. Andrew did it well

“She told me that with great power…”
“…Comes great responsibility.”
“Wait, how do you know that?”
“Uncle Ben said it.”
“The day he died. Maybe she didn’t die for nothing, Peter.”

The acting is really great in this scene.

This scene showcases two amazing performances. I don’t care what anyone says, Andrew Garfield was criminally underrated in this film.

I thought Garfield did a fantastic job at 1:02 ....That hesitance to throw your argument at someone who challenges something you've been wounded by for your whole life...especially it being your loved ones to challenge that idea...the lip quivers....and the line "where's my dad?"....made me pretty teary

What Peter did was wrong, but he had a very good point about his dad.

In the Sam Raimi trilogy the responsibility scene was more cinematic.
But in the Amazing SpiderMan this scene is very realistic. Martin Sheen absolutely nailed the part here.

After giving his responsibility speech, there's nothing that hurts more than hearing...

*"So where's my dad?"* Goddammit that is gut-wrenching.

0:54 i know it's not as mighty as ''with great power comes great responsibility'' scene but this still gives me chills

I love how Peter doesn’t get unjustly mad. He loves uncle Ben and aunt May and doesn’t get mad at either of them over little things. Ben knew this and that’s why he genuinely believed he’d overstepped and immediately felt regret for what he’d said and called Peter back. Wonderful acting.

If you pay close attention at 0:55 when Ben says “Responsibility”, his hand is delivering Spidey’s web hand gesture.

“So where is he. Where is he ? Where’s my Dad? He didn’t think it was his responsibility to be here to tell me this himself? ”

Peter’s not arguing that what he did was wrong or that Aunt May was inconvenienced or put in danger . He was just tired of being lectured about principle from a man who looked like he had just abandoned him.

I mean how do you argue with that?

Ive had fights with my parents before and Andrew did an amazing job with this.

Holland: With great power…

Maguire: …comes great responsibility.

Holland: wait how do you know that?

Garfield: Uncle Ben said it…

Maguire: …the day he died…

This dialogue is based off the Ultimate comic version, which itself goes a lot better.
"Your father had a philosophy that he held to pretty strongly. And it's one that served him very, very well. He believed that if there were things in this world you had to offer, things that you did well, better than anyone else. Well he believed that it wasn't just a good idea to do those things. He believed that it was your *responsibility* to do those things. Don't try to be something else, don't to be less. Great things are gonna happen to you in your life Peter, great things. And with that, will come great responsibility. You understand? Great responsibility

0:46 Ben didn't say the obvious line but it's changed so perfectly it doesn't deviate from the originals meaning actually it's somehow better.
