How to reset Yamaha MT09 2022 and Tracer 9GT timing tensioner.

The easy way to reset the tensioner. If you are like me referring to the service manual it will take ages to get it done and alot of swearing.

Step 1 : Use light to moderate pressure on the drill to move the piston into position. At this point the piston will spin with the drill. If not spinning it won't back in.

Step 2 : Align the 1st clip into the piston groove and wiggle it abit to lock it in place.

Step 3 : Slowly backoff the drill and check if the piston stay in place.

If not repeat step 1.

Once you get used to it, it will be easy peasy.

Step 4 : Install back and give it a knock at the back using mallet or wood and check timing chain tension. (Do not use the method as suggested by service manual) because the risk of the chain jumping teeth. Been there done that..so avoid my misery. My pain your gain.
