I am not even good at guitar, but I immediately knew that it must be this lick. Legendary.

That sounds like the start of the good morning good morning solo

An even MORE popular lick is the one where you play a note and then the next one a whole tone up. It’s used in just about every solo!

Rumour has it this guy is still just stood around saying 'lick' over and over

Add the 8th fret of the B string too and you'll find it everywhere in solos: jump in the fire, hotel California, sultains of swing, war pigs, Panama. It's literally like the most used lick in rock lol

Hotel California's solo instantly comes to mind after seeing the tab

Steve Jones is a master at that lick, virtually every song on Never Mind The Bollocks has some variation of it.

I'm learning comfortably numb and can confirm that this lick is used multiple times throughout the second solo

Seems like the most complex of licks can be broken down to their most basic forms to create an awesome solo! Thanks bunches! 😊

Yes brother.
That lick is used by SRV and Jeff healey quite a bit too. I use it all the time to warm up.

Thanks for the illumination.
The fifth fret is the major guitar "sweet spot" for me so much I avoid lingering there stylistically speaking because it has that "overly accessible feel" that should only be in the hands of passionate, caring individuals at the right time to avoid being "played out" for 'bro points.' Does this sound analogously familiar to any other human activity?

Yep, that's pretty much the first thing on guitar ya have to learn if ya wanna play solo's, and the pentatonic scales, then learn the major, 👍

The most used notes in guitar soloing. Great first solo lick to know. If it's good enough for Beck, Clapton and Page, I'm thinking it's good enough for any guitarists.
