in fact, Chiang Mai, Thailand, offers a delightful blend of cultural immersion, culinary adventures, and outdoor exploration through Discovering Chiang Mai's Cultural Heritage by Exploring the vibrant Warorot Market (Kad Luang), where we can shop for local handicrafts, textiles, and fresh produce while soaking in the bustling atmosphere and Exploring the charming streets of Chiang Mai's Old City, where we can wander through ancient temples, browse boutique shops, and sample local street food that will leave special and unforgettable memories of our time in Northern Thailand

If you go during Songkran keep your vehicle windows up lol. Also those wall in downtown were being built when I was growing up there so tourists can say wow look at the ancient architecture 😂

Shung Mai? One of the more unique ways to mispronounce it.! (Chee eng ... is probably the best way for English speakers to pronounce it ... but you need to say it if you were trying to expressing a 2 syllable word with one syllable ... the the 'g' at the end is not fully pronounced, more like 'implied'(ie almost like you were going to say the 'g' but as soon as your tongue got in position to make the 'g' sound, you decided not to say it. Alternatively I hear many native Thai speakers pronounce it more like 'Xi eng' With the Xi being more of a 'Chinese 'Xi' pronunciation, with an 'implied T' at the start (like you might pronounce 'tsunami' in terms of how the 't' gets expresses in some 'extra air' released before you pronounce the 'T/C' .

That is to say, it's a very deceptively hard word to say properly, so no one is going to slam you for wrong pronunciations ... but usually it's mispronounced with a 'C' (Chang is the usually acceptable mispronunciations, ;-)

Anyway, all good choices, but I would suggest if you plan ahead, taking in a local (as in outside of the old city to one of the 'Amphore' /districts that surround the main tourist districts and sub-districts and look for a temple celebration ... there are literally hundreds of temples within a 20km radius, almost all of them will 'take turns' holding 2 or 3 day celebrations throughout the year, which include big night parties and day time Ceremonies. Lots of eating, drinking, music, & dancing mixed with authentic traditional entertainment and ceremony (Sin-sai I think they call it, where you spend about 30 minutes to an hour sitting with the locals listening to Monks chant, 'climaxing' in a 'joining' of the community by everyone connecting themselves together with strings tied to a web of overhead stings, while the Monks crank up the intensity of the chanting to 'eleven'!) being one of the more interesting to watch or join in.

Later you can join the community in the partying (until 11pm or midnight ... Thais will ignore complaints of noise (if you tell them their temple party is too noisy, they will probably just say, 'thank you, glad you appreciate the effort we went through to make it this loud!)

I live out in Hang Dong, and nearing the end of the week you can always hear some big temple party happening off in the 'distance' (as Chiang Mai is in the literal 'tropical jungle mountain;s, there is lots of jungle even in the 'suburbs' to absorb the sound, producing the sound necessary to do this is quite the acoustic feat!! )
