Bro, that is Amanda Achen. She sings Final Fantasy vocals, especially in Final Fantasy XIV. You met a huge figure in the community.

I did not expect to see Amanda Achen just casually pop up on a street interview here, very cool. She has sung with Joe Hisaishi professionally, the full version of Princess Mononoke is on her music stream song list, beautiful to hear.

She's waaaay too humble with that voice.

When she started singing in fluent Japanese - my jaw dropped onto the table-top. Outstanding!

Anyone interested in hearing more ABSOLUTELY need to check out Flow from Final Fantasy XIV and My Star from Final Fantasy XVI. Amanda Achen is such an incredible artist. Wild to see her here randomly. lol

I hear Amanda's voice. I hear Flow. Then I go cry in a corner. That song is just too much. She's an amazing singer.

As a singer, she has a very good ear to hit those different notes.

People often have multiple interests or passions, and when those passions intersect, you get insights like what she's providing her, through her passion for music and her interest in linguistics. It's such a treat to listen to someone talk with such enthusiasm and experience with a new perspective.

Those "pure" vowels, like the long E and the long O, have very pronounced overtones. When they're sung with really conscientious pronunciation--really "dialed in"--you can hear those overtones ringing out like a bell above the actual note that is being sung. Melodies sometimes take advantage of this: if that overtone harmonizes appropriately with the song, it's like having a phantom backup singer who's just kind of barely in the mix.

I love listening to vocalists talk about vocalization.
