I used to be scared of roundabouts because I didn't know what I was doing.

Now I hate roundabouts because so many others don't know what they're doing

So, according to this, 90% of UK drivers should have their licence revoked.

My biggest issue with the UK driving test is how learners are expected to show their "observations". I found that I was never really observing but instead just ticking boxes. "Left right left" at the junction, "middle and left" when changing to the left lane, "middle" when changing speed. I had all this information in my head, but each time I did these observations I was never really observing the hazards around me but instead just ticking boxes.

This is something I quickly unlearned after passing my test. Observations are important and the focus should be on taking in your surroundings not ticking boxes.

Having passed my test, I can now watch these as entertainment!

IINTERESTING FACT: Once you learn to drive, you become better at pushing your trolley around busy, supermarket aisles. Grab that cheese, then check over your shoulder and then pull out and move gracefully towards the Brussels pate....but ohh noo..there's a bottleneck being caused by dithering shopper!!...and there's "oncoming" shoppers in the right hand aisle. You come to a patient, gentle stop and let them through the gap. You and your trolley are "as one" ...like a finely forged sword in the hands of a samurai....:-))

I bet all the people in the neighbourhood were peeping through their curtains thinking, "Well, I am definitely not sending my child to that instructor, he is positively manic, driving on the curb!"

I've got my test tomorrow!!! I'm super nervous! Thank you for this video DGN Driving.

Edit: I passed everyone!!! If I can give y'all a tip, do a 2 hr lesson before you're actual test if possible. Try to have your instructor be strict. Practice your maneuvers and have your instructor take you on possible test routes. You can't get rid of your nerves. Just believe in yourself and remember all you have learned! All the best to anyone who has their test soon. I'm rooting for you!!!👏🏼💗 CONFIDENCE IS KEY!

It's so different when you're on your own. There is no one there with a brake pedal. You feel more responsible. If you make a mistake when learning its almost like a video game. You can just restart with no consequences. You know this in the back of your mind. Your instructor is still in control. Been driving for over 10 years now. You never stop learning.

Between my driving instructor, my mum teaching me in my car and your videos, you all contributed in one way or another into me passing my test today with 5 faults. I've thanked my driving instructor and my mum so it's only right I thank you too. Thank you 🙏

Passed my driving test not long ago and your videos helped me out alot. Even now, I still watch your videos and it makes me better each day. Without you, I would have probably failed my test. I can't thank you any more.

Please do understand that he has exaggerated the mistakes to make sure people understand what he is explaining (such as the oversteer or understeer). I failed for observations even when I stopped but didn't check my left properly and there was vehicles parked where others had to overtake. Passed 4th time👍👍

One of the most important things my driving instructor told me, was, to take it slowly. If you're unsure when turning at a junction, shift to first gear and take all the time you need. If you have trouble finding a spot to enter a street with high traffic, don't worry. Just wait until there is an opening. The clock is ticking in your favor and as long as you're not making any serious mistakes, you're fine.
In my driving test, I drove 30 when 50 was allowed, because I missed the sign and wasn't sure. It drew a comment from my instructor and the testing official afterwards, but ultimately it wasn't a big deal. So if you're not sure, take your time. You're a beginner, not a race care driver, nothing is gained from being the fastest.

Also, while it was tedious during the driving lessons, doing the shoulder view, signalling and generally observing the traffic is in fact really helping you when you're driving alone. Having your driving instructor sitting in the passengers seat is like driving a bicycle with support wheels. You don't "need" to think about everything to arrive safely at your destination, but you're supposed to to pass the test. That adds not needed pressure in my opinion. After my first trip alone, I stopped being nervous about driving, and it became a means to an end very quickly.

Your vids are brilliant. I've been driving nearly 55 years and absolutely love it. Husband has never learnt (thank goodness!). I am always amazed at the crap standard of driving. When I passed my test in 1967 my dad said "just regard everyone else driving as an idiot and you should be alright". Unfortunately, it is still the case today. Keep up the good work and I will encourage my grandson to watch your videos.
