THIS is what the Bears were doing with their saved-up timeouts.

At least one thing went right for the Bears this season.

Usually when teams do this, they have someone back already, the fact the Bears had someone run back to catch the ball, he caught the ball and then ran it in for a TD takes it to a whole other level.

As a Bears fan, I’m really not used to them outsmarting the other team, ever!

Absolutely amazing. He ran 40 yards backwards before jaunting 90 yards into the end zone. I’m a diehard Packer fan, but my hats off to you Chicago.

As a Chicago native, this is step 1 of restoring hope.

Remember the Rams did that against the Seahawks back then. Think Highlight Heaven had their clip on best trick plays.

The Bears did this with Hester once. They had Johnny Knox on the opposite side. Hester called for a fake fair catch. Hester and Knox fooled everybody so badly, even the cameraman was confused until Knox got to the 50 yard line. Unfortunately there was a holding call on the Bears that negated that TD.

I believe this is the fourth time this play has been used in the NFL (although there's always the possibility that there are more occasions that I'm not aware of). The first time was by the Bears, against the Packers. That play was called back due to a holding. The second time was the Jeff Fisher-era Rams using it to score a touchdown against the Seahawks. The third time was the Seahawks trying it against the Bears, resulting in a return to the two.

Top comment on the nfl's official video was waiting for the Isaac Punts recap. Love it!

For the Bears, this makes it a winning season.

Thanks for the break down. Wasn't clear how it happened just watching the highlights.

The referees were so shocked by all the holding the Bears did on that play that their hands were paralyzed. And Im a Bears fan.

I remember when the bears tried this a while back but got called back for a penalty. Hester was a beast!

Sweet over the shoulder Willy May's style catch too - he made it look so effortless to catch a 65 yard punt like that in the cold to boot! Epic play! Lions should add this to their playbook. :-}

The in depth breakdown of how a returned punt makes it home is actually really interesting and well explained here, the game really is about position

This is one of Jeff Fisher's extraordinary trick plays, used against my Seahawks when he was LA Rams head coach.

the best part is that I remember the Bears did this back in the day when they had Hester too, it's always fun to see them use it

Awesome, watched it live via RTL in Jerusalem, Israel at Mike's Place ...just sat down for dinner and this played on the big screen....it gave a pessimistic optimism that our Bears would win!
