This is how I feel being in the diet and health space for nearly two decades

People often ask me how I am able to keep up with all the information about diet and health since there seems to be so many conflicting ideas out there on a constant basis. I will admit that it can sometimes feel impossible to keep up with all the everything that is disseminated as information on this topic on social media, podcasts, and books. But I have some wisdom to help you best deal with this.

I’m in my 18th year of being deeply involved in the world of nutritional health and I used to feel this pressure to have to do all the things that I ever heard about. Take MCT oil. Eat resistant starch. Consume more protein. Take exogenous ketones. I could go on and on.

While there are many pervasive messages that you hear from various people who you love and respect, it really comes down to one thing—what will work for YOU?! Do you think adding in honey and fruit to your carnivore diet is going to benefit you in pursuit of your goals? Try it and see. If it does, great…keep doing that! If not, move on.

It’s so tempting when you hear about concepts that you haven’t heard about before to just jump right into anything and everything. But we first need a basic foundation of things that we can do for ourselves before we think about adding in these other things as an adjunct to that. So if you’re just starting off on keto or carnivore, you don’t need to be worrying yourself with anything other than the basics of your chosen diet.

When you have done that for a period of time and reaped the benefits from doing that, then you can look at other things to step up your game. It might first take the form of little tweaks to your diet like removing vegetable oils or shifting over to grass-fed and organic meats. But it can also be big changes like doing regular resistance exercise or even getting in an ice bath as I have been doing this year.

Going at your own pace and adding in new things to try doesn’t need to be overwhelming or stressful. It’s good to have the information and to use it to add tools to your toolbox in your health. I’ve been a student of this stuff for nearly two decades and I’m still amazed at all the things that I continue to learn. NEVER STOP LEARNING!
