In this video I just wanted to show a few things I think you should do to your brand new traxxas trx4. It will be fine for awhile but if your serious about your rig you should give a good look over before you take it out on its first run. Enjoy!!

Greece is a double-edged sword one could argue it just holds any contaminants and turns into an abrasive paste faster than dry gears doing their thing

Good tips man. A little extra grease never hurts and checking the rig over before you run it to make sure the factory didnt miss anything.

If you mess up with the Diff Covers make sure you DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THEM...
They will bind up the locking fork slightly enough for the weak ass mini servo to burn up prematurely, If unsure just remove the plastic ball end from the servo and cycle through the lock and unlock positions. There should be very little resistance to unlock them and just a tad to lock them, If you F¨*** up the unlock position will be very hard.

Also, Unscrew the mini-Servos just slightly so they can rock back and fort slightly this will remove some load from them and make them last longer. Those servo savers are there to keep the mini-Servos from killing themselves as there is no End Point adjustment for channels #3 (2 Speed) and #4 (3 Position Switch for Locking Diffs), Those servo savers are there to absorb excessive servo travel so undoing the screws slightly will allow more slack but keep the servos doing their job.

Good advice. Thanks. I do wish you would have shown, up close, exactly how to remove and apply the grease.

Cool video man and good things to know. :)

This is what I do with all my rigs. The factory usually only puts such small amount of grease that it splats away on first few turns of the motor. Also this is good way to chack for any FOD in gearboxes or diffs. ;)

If I end up getting a crawler, the TRX4 is what I'm gonna purchase.

Looks like traxxis needs to get there shit together you shouldn't have to do this if you paid so much for the truck kinda bs thanks for the help just got mine but already went out still doing it though

I would personally recommend adjusting the steering endpoints out of the box. The stock servos have a tendency to die quickly and I'm convinced it's because the endpoints out of the box put too much strain on the servo. Unfortunately, you can't do this with the Sport, since the TQ remote doesn't offer this adjustment, but the bronco and defender have TQI radios that offer all types of settings to adjust.

I noticed that trx4 wouldn’t speed up properly, it went a certain speed then speeds up. I took the motor off and noticed that the spur gear is completely ruined. Would that be the reason it’s loud with like a clicking noise and does not speed up?

I greased portal's and diff with cheap smelling marine grease is this safe long term for plastics ??

Marine grease man! Buy from your local store. Got a tube from Canadian Tire, paid about $12 and have enough grease to last 5 years. Since you’re probably American you will pay just over half of what I did.
