President Biden gave his goodbye speech on Wednesday night at the Resolute desk in the Oval Office.

The 46th president started his speech by touching on the Israel-Hamas cease-fire deal that was "developed and negotiated" by his administration.

This deal was a major diplomatic win for Biden as his presidency wraps up in the next few days.

“This plan was developed and negotiated by my team and will be largely implemented by the incoming administration,” Biden said. “That’s why I told my team to keep the incoming administration fully informed. Because that’s how it should be, working together as Americans.”

Throughout his speech, Biden claimed to have led Americans through “one of the toughest periods in our nation’s history.”

“Every day, I've kept my commitment to being president for all Americans for one of the toughest periods in our nation's history,” he said.
Biden also discussed some of his legislative accomplishments during his four years in office, including investments in infrastructure, manufacturing, and veterans' health.

“It will take time to feel the full impact of all we’ve done together,” Biden said. “But the seeds are planted. And they’ll grow and they’ll bloom for decades to come.”

As Biden heads out of office, he is leaving with a low job approval rating, with just a third of Americans believing the country is heading in the right direction.

“His approval is 37%. I believe that is a near-historic low for him in our polling,” said Matt Taglia, the senior director of Emerson College Polling, which released a new national survey Tuesday.

In September 2024, Biden released a statement saying that "Americans are safer than when we took office" and that violent crime declined in America, "at a near 50-year low."

A report by "Full Measure, with Sharyl Attkisson," showed that the FBI misreported crime data from 2022 and then had to readjust the numbers after public outcry.

The report discovered the FBI quietly revised its 2022 figures from a 2.1% drop in violent crime to a 4.5% increase making a total rise of 6.6%. That includes 80,000 violent crimes that had gone uncounted: 33,000 additional robberies, 37,000 extra aggravated assaults, 7,000 more rapes, and 1,700 added murders.

According to CNN, Biden is leaving office with his approval rating at the lowest level it has been throughout his single-term presidency, with Americans viewing his presidency as more of a failure than a success.
