Japan is the land of the rising sun, one of the most advanced countries in Asia and the whole world. How did such a small country get to such a level? The modern history of Japan begins with the Russian-Japanese war in which Japan won and occupied Southern Sakhalin. After the victory, Japan occupied the Korean peninsula and used it as a springboard for the occupation of China. Japan entered into an alliance with Nazi Germany and began an escalation against China, which was fighting a civil war at the time. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, thus officially began to participate in WW2. The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by American troops forced Japan to withdraw from the war. After the war, Japan fell under the American sphere of influence but retained the monarchy. Instead of millitarianism, Japan began to develop technology, and you will learn more in this video
