Even at 25 years as a remodeling contractor I still learn on a daily. I’ve learned a lot from watching your vids. Thank you for NOT being an ass like so many who don’t think that they shouldn’t share their infinite knowledge.

Glad my uncle gave me this tip along time ago. When I was still a greenhorn I would use the wrong side on a used blade and have to go back over spots just to make it look good, but not anymore. That’s a nice tip, I think I’ll use the wood burner trick mentioned below to sear a rough spot in the plastic on mine.

As an old drywaller, 40 yrs, you are 100% correct in all you have shown . If you ever go to court, I'll be a character witness , just sayin...

Finally! A guy who actually knows finishing!

Next show the amateurs how important and necessary it is to spin a pan full of mud so you can get mud on the knife exactly how you need it. I've seen countless "professionals" look like a baby deer on a slip and slide when I asked them to do it so I could know if they were as good as they claimed to be.

I set my knives on the handle and blade/side when I lean them up to dry or just set them down. Keeps the edge clean of debris (from the surface they're sitting on) and free of rust (from water settling along the blade edge when drying). I also think it's easier to grab the handle. I'll usually lean them up against a bucket. The only downside is that it leaves the blade exposed to kicking or dropping something on it. Which is pretty rare... Just putting that out there in case others want to give it a try. 👍✌️

Gonna do this in the morning, that will save a lot of time not staring down the edge to see how it’s curved.
Thanks, awesome til

so you are saying have the convex side on the wall, which means its more into the wall, in the center, than the edges. my question is why do you want it more into the wall on the taped joint and less on edges. I would assume you want it in reverse, with the concave side in the wall so the center of joint u remove less mud on the tape line and the curve of blade would naturally feather to the outside? please someone explain

Hey kilted guy met a painter today he was sixtyfour years old. He said he works for his self and was very happy . l told him he was working to cheap. Can you do a video on how much a self employed tradesman should charge. So many of the old guys sold their selves out cheap. They need your help since you have such a large platform.

I use a rectangular patch of grip tape (similar to what's on a skateboard) where you have the screw. I've used maybe 2ft of the 15ft roll and haven't had to replace it yet on any blades/pans, over a year so far, still super grippy. I use it to line the lower edges of my metal pans to help prevent slippage.

I have this little hand wood burner I've had since I was a kid(arts and crafts type thing) it's about 6in, plug it in and the tip gets hot. I basically brand all my knives with a big X you can see it, you can feel it and best of all you can "reclaim" it when your coworkers claim it there's or walk off with it !!! 😉👍🏼
