There is metal tip (7:02), it moves when placed the pot. It is the sensor. If the tip covered with coffee sometimes brewer not start and brew finish early.

Have you tried either using a frying thermometer in addition to the machine or a normal cezve?
That’s what I’ve been doing anyway since I’m blind and can’t see when the phone rises
I’m also wondering if it would help to preheat the water so the extraction doesn’t go that long.
I borrowed one of my friends machines that looks like this, and I will definitely be trying it out
