For all those who don't understand, basically this girl called Anne had fallen in love with a boy called Gilbert who secretley had a crush on her and she finally admitted it to her best friend that she had feelings for him but it was too late and he found a girl and was thinking of proposing to her. Spoiler: Anne and Gilbert end up together.

tbh we have to think that Gilbert tried so hard to impress Anne, to make her fall in love, but she was sooo proud and stubborn so it’s normal for him to try with another person after 3 years of being rejected by Anne, is incredibly Toxic to continue. And yes, i know, Anne admitted she was in love with him but after veery long time. And yes, he called him “Carrots” JUST ONCE, and tried to say ‘sorry’, for very long time, so, can we really blame him for trying to be happy with another woman?

Honestly, i can't blame Anne for being so slow to return his feelings. She was so young. It was her first time gaining a family and friends. And even then, there were too many troubles to preoccupy her. Boys would be the last thing on her mind. Actually she obviously have liked him too since s1 and just wasn't able to evaluate it cause her friend liked him too. That said i don't blame him either😮

Did what? He showed his feelings for her so many times, took care of her so much, and she wasn’t even able to support him with difficulty after his father's death, first talking about herself. Gilbert didn't have to wait for her all his life, and Winnie was beautiful, by the way.
