They’re not a sociopath, but the fact that they are so concerned is a good thing and they’ll get it figured out.

He specifically said for the past 5 years which means this is a new thing, so I would say he's just depressed. When you're really depressed you just don't care about anything.

Yeah. This isn't sociopathy. That's a lack of empathy, but sociopaths are prone to emotional outbursts. This just sounds like depression.

That could be depression or a sudden burst of schizoid personality disorder or something

OP is discovering depression, I wish them the best with it. Can be pretty damn rough sometimes.

I hope that Physiologist helps him lol

That's depression. Good news, though- depression is fixable, sociopathy probably wouldn't be.

Oh my! Depression hits us all different. Sociopaths “typically” aren’t concerned with their lack of emotions. It’s just never been a thing.

Sounds like depression. I thought I was a sociopath when I was depressed too

You don’t have to “feel sad” to be depressed. One common symptom is general disinterest in things that once mattered to you. You simply lack the dopamine and norepinephrine to motivate you emotionally.

The number of people I've known who thought they were sociopaths bc they had burried all emotions due to abuse, burnout etc is WILD. I hope op is able to unpack why they feels this way, and is able to reconnect with their emotions in a safe environment.

Sounds like depression my dude, same shit with me. I genuinely thought I was a sociopath and it made me feel bad but that’s when I knew I wasn’t lol

It’s not sociopathy. It’s depression and emotional burnout. I’m right there with you. It’s the kind where you’re strong enough to know you don’t want to die but you don’t have the energy to feel anything.

I’m the same way, it is probably depression but I find it to actually be beneficial in certain situations since it has allowed me to look at things with more of a level head

I’ve had this. At least for me it was a side affect of watching very violent videos. I would be very specific with what you watch and listen to. Only listen and watch happy videos and music. Meditation also helped me a lot.

This reminds me of the way my boyfriend describes his depression. Just a lack of emotion and putting on a face for people. I agree with the majority of other commenters that it’s probably depression.

I feel they are more depressed than a sociopath.
About 13 years ago, I was exactly the same, I saw a doctor they diagnosed me with severe depression, anxiety, and CPTSD.
Now I'm too emotional. But I'd rather feel everything than have no feelings at all. I really struggled with my 15 year old son when he was a baby/child. I love him and was sad when he was sad and proud, but that's the only feelings I had, and they were only for him. But since being diagnosed (I've since been diagnosed with EUPD and bipolar), I was able to feel every emotion for everyone, too much emotion tbh haha.

Wow, that's..well, it would be sad, but you don't feel it so. Hmm..
I'm not sure if that's what it would be called when you've stoped feeling emotions 5 years ago but okay.
Hope there is a continuation of the story. Its pretty interesting to say the least.
It's unfortunate that you can't relate to other people.

It's comforting to know that if I ever have any mental issues I can always turn to social media since everyone all of a sudden became such a world class expert in a field they've likely never studied or worked in.
