Sydney hazard reduction burn jumps containment lines

Firefighters are working to control a hazard reduction burn that has jumped containment lines in Sydney.

The Northern Beaches fire flared out of control around 5pm on Saturday as aircraft and extra crews were deployed to help tame the blaze.

The NSW RFS says no properties are under threat.

Ya supposed to do burn off's while it's still cool right after the first spring rains, not in the first week of summer. Ten to one it's a bunch of university educated townies calling the shots.

Well well, soooo why do it now when the fire without permit and fire season is almost upon us and not a few months ago when the rain vacated. Was it incompetence? Or is there a metric crap tonne of red tape to get permission?
