Woodturning - Elegant Chaos

In this video, I take you through the process of making an elegant bowl/vase with some really interesting final shapes that come from basically making a bowl out of several layers of a cutting board glue-up. This means that, unlike a segmented bowl, the final pieces are actually random shapes that vary from swirls to almost-trapezoids.

I used a combination of Walnut, Black Limba, and Purpleheart woods. I start by gluing up several strips of leftover lumber, then use a CNC machine to cut out the pieces with precision and accuracy. Then, I glue the pieces together on the lathe, using a bowl chuck on the tail stock to get everything perfectly centered. This video showcases the art of woodturning with some unusual techniques to create this stunning piece of art. If you're a fan of woodturning or just starting out, this is a must-watch for you. Join me on this exciting journey as I bring this beautiful bowl/vase to life.

This is the second piece from this same glue up. In the first video, I use the outer rings of the cuts. In this one, I’m using the inner blanks.

Love it but I think your breaking one of the woodworking commandments, Lignum 3:16; Thow shalt not use a CNC on every project😇
