I had to be in a splint for two weeks to wait for swelling to go down and then I was in the cast for another 3-4 weeks

I'm no doctor but aren't you guys supposed to wrap the hand as well with the wrist cause that's what they did for me when i was a kid. They would wrap my hand first and then wrap my wrist to my arm. So that way the cast wouldn't fall off at all because it was also on my hand.

Mine did that and my mom just told me that that meant it was time for it to come off and i was healed. To this day i still have limited mobility in my left wrist.

When I fractured my wrist I got a cast that went to my elbow, but I did only get it put on like 2 weeks after the fracture because I thought it was sprained, so I just wore a brace and went skiing with a fracture in my arm.

When I broke my scaphoid they tried putting me in a full arm cast. I said nuts to that noise, I can't work like that, so do the surgery instead. I woke up from surgery in a full arm cast. What we had there was a failure to communicate.

I was given the option of a cast or titanium plate and no cast. Went with the plate to make sure I got my mobility back.

I Used A Long Arm Cast When I Broke My Wrist

The past 3 years before my mom passed she had broken her wrist on both radius and ulnar, they put a cast on yet it was badly swollen, obviously after 4 days that swelling went down so much I could get my fingers in the cast, I urged her to go to the hospital to get it recasted but she said they will see her in 3 days time to do it, I kept saying it needs doing literally that day, but she was adamant to go when the hospital told her. Low and behold the bones started to fuse and her hand was almost 1 inch out of line from her forearm and at like a 20 degree angle, but instead of the doctor’s resetting it they just casted over it and left it… it pained her every time she used it for any kind of movement as the wrist and some carpals had fused.
Moral of the story: if your cast gets loose/breaks…just go back to the hospital and have them redo it and save yourself the pain.

I had my wrist almost up to my shoulder for six weeks, then below my elbow for a further six weeks when I was a child.

They put mine on so loose that when I got angry as a child, after less than a week of it being on, I was able to pull it off.

So, I've been having issues with my wrist for years. I got an x ray after a fall, just a few months back. They said there is significant space where there shouldn't be and put me in a case. EVERY single time, within a day the cast would be sliding off. They did try a splint first but there was no improvement. There was also no improvement from the casts either and I've been waiting to hear about and MRI for like... well over a month.

Funny story about my friends lil bro breaking his arm and a cast mishap lol

As a kid in the late 90s my besties little brother crashed his bike into the tree outside the house, we were all having our big summer sleepover that weekend at hers, her little bro went in crying about his arm hurting so his mum told him to slap a wet paper towel on it and go back out, he was like 7 or 8 and we were about 9-10. As he’s crying and going into the house right after the crash his sister asks if he’s okay and in a deep voice he tells her to F off (as usual even now lol) his arm started to swell up so he had some medicine and it got worse so he went to the hospital the next afternoon and they xrayed it and found it was broken but it was so swollen they couldn’t cast it so he went home with a wrist sling and when he fell asleep that night he put his arm up with his elbow bent so his arm was above his head and we woke up to him screaming for his mum because it had gotten stuck 😂 when he finally had a cast put on it his sister held him down and wrote the C word across it for telling her to F off when she tried to help him so he had to wear a sock over it for a couple weeks until his next cast change😂😂

My mother did this so the doctors gave her a backstrap instead of a full cast.
