My mom saw someone doing this to a kid in our neighborhood with the ultimatum if he didn't he wasn't allowed to come home. The poor guy was so terrified so my parents swooped in and said just change the address you call home. They took him in, adopted him and made sure he was loved for himself no matter what.

The first guy was awesome standing up for her and hearing him say "It makes me sad hearing your mom say that" "I have a single mother and her telling me that would break me."

The things they do to the kids at those camps are cruel and should be illegal. There’s no actual therapy involved. Just abuse.

That lady in the second take, we need more people like her, I'm crying, that's how beautiful that was!!!

This was a great segment, but sometimes John intercedes a bit too early in the reveal. The interaction between the son, mother and schoolteacher was powerful and needed about 5-10 more seconds.

I worked with a man who was forced to do this when he was younger. I felt for him.. he was such a sad man. He did end up having a family who he loved very much but he was so sad all the time. I wonder how he is today

I come from an old-school religious family, and everyone who isn't "normal" is judged and/or disowned. I honestly can't stand many of the people I'm related to.

I grew up with traditional Asian parents and am the only child (boy) in the family so this hits for me. I was frightened to come out, but thankfully I had a friend who made me swear in our junior year of college that if I was ever asked directly by my parents about my orientation that I would have to tell them because she would have my back otherwise.

A year later that very thing happened. My mom found my hidden copy of The Out 100 and asked me why I was reading that. I told them and while it was a bumpy road at the start (my dad accepted me immediately and my mom had a harder time - mostly internally thinking she did something wrong), they accepted me rather quickly and have been very thankful my coming out was so easy. I know that’s not the road for everyone. Wishing those with harder roads well and reach out to places like Trevor Project if you need help!

I’m a trans college student, grew up in a very religious household in the evangelical church. Spent years and years trying to be just a girl, knowing I wasn’t safe to tell anyone how I really felt. The real reason I hated shopping for clothes and always had more male than female friends, etc. This video came on my feed hours before I’m leaving to get my hair cut short, to finally start expressing who I am. My parents are at least verbally supportive, but I’m so afraid of how other family members will react. That moment at the end, when the mother changed her mind, I couldn’t help but tear up. Thank you.

as a gay man this got me. so many people in the community just want to be free and be themselves, without judgement. it's really as simple as that.

We just need to accept each other for who we are. Live and let live.

That last lady tied up the scene with a pretty bow. And she gave it a happy ending.

I personally don't care, people have their preferences, it's not up to any human to tell another human what their preferences are. I love women and nobody will dictate my preferences same way I wouldn't dictate someone else's.
