Amber tells Taylor that Lance agreed to tell her everything in the morning. Amber is sure it will be good news because she wouldn’t risk her family for the likes of Lance. Sheila vows that Lance is going to be very sorry about his blackmail attempt. With malice, Sheila notes that Lance is deathly allergic to bees. Sheila sets a death trap for Lance. Erica doesn’t mean to slam Amber, but wonders how many more times Amber is going to do this to Rick - empty promises leading to yet another excuse.

They used tequila shots back, ; they did in 2021, too. Erica sounded like Hope when she was trying to gas light Rick. Lance is allergic to bees, and he is eating honey? So, Sheila opened a part of the window to put the bees in, and yet, nobody heard anything? It's always someone else's fault, except for Sheila

*To Bee Or Not To Bee*
In a way, Sheila's method (unalivement by dangerous animal) is very much in character - it's the same one that she tried with Mike and the Doberman. The difference is that this time, Lance actually _dies._

We have mentioned earlier that until this point, the writers always stopped short of having Sheila deliberately and successfully kiII anyone. This is the first time we see Sheila actually plan and carry out a real mu r d er. And it's not that _Sheila_ is doing anything different from all those other times when she either tried to unalive someone but they survived, or she unintentionally kiIIed someone, it's just that this time the _writers_ set the story up so that Sheila actually has no other option but to kiII Lance. He literally gives her a deadIine, at which time her whole life will be destroyed unless she makes Lance disappear. Yes, the writers could solve the problem by having Lance _accidentally_ stung by bees and making Sheila's part a less active one (not helping him, and letting him die), but then that would create another fIaw in the writing by having Sheila saved by chance alone (a deus ex machina), which is an unsatisfying solution.

So here, the writers have clearly painted Sheila into a corner that she can't get out of without com mi tting mu r d er. And by doing so, they have crossed a threshold with Sheila that can't be undone.

B&B’s visual gags don’t always work, but Lance spreading honey on his sandwich was a nice, ironic touch. The way the camera focused on it and bathed it in a somewhat sinister light reminded me of the camera work on the glass of milk in the classic Hitchcock film “Suspicion.”

Side note - as someone who is suuuppper allergic to bees, I was really triggered by this episode. No way Lance wouldn’t have had an Epi-Pen, health insurance or no (they weren’t expensive back then).

Who remembers Sheila disguised like an old skool Hollywood actress to conceil her identity, because she didn't wanna get recognized by I believe Ziggy? She pretended to be a loved one who was mourning Lance's death.

As much as I love the character of Sheila as a villain, in the present day she isn't needed and is just used up by this point. I enjoyed her return in 2017 which was very unexpected. I did enjoy this storyline in 2002. Her big return to Y&R in 2005-2006 was fantastic and done so well. I know her return a year later as a Phyllis lookalike was over the top and not well received.
