I very vividly remember playing Star Wars on my Leapfrog handheld when I was 6, and my dad heard one of the R2-D2 noises ring out like a god damn siren from the surprisingly powerful speakers on that thing. He came into the room to tell me it was 3AM, at which point I had a tantrum because I thought I wouldn't get to sleep before school. Little did I know I was just getting a free trial of my current-day usual bedtime.

To be fair, his mother can't say he was playing with his DS, because while it's alive, it is also dead! And you can't play with a dead DS.

As a kid (before I went to school and during summers) I tended not to sleep until I saw the sun coming up.

One of my most vivid memories is playing the Kung Zhu DS game all night long, starting at the beginning when I got in bed and playing through the credits right as the room started getting brighter.

I was one of the lucky ones. My mother did not hear Mario. I was fortunate enough to be blessed with knowledge without the burden that came with it. But then again...was I lucky? To watch my brothers and sisters fall on the bedgrounds, slain by only two words...and yet I still live to remember it?
