Operation. i remember being a farmkid with a pig that had an infected wound, and i had a pocket knife and duct tape--forget a month's income for a vet. dad said "take care of it". how about a cow with a jammed breach birth. "grease up your arm, son, and Reach". got injured/wounded in viet nam? forget a corpsman, i got my pocket knife and duct tape.

I'm with Mike Burton! I have ALWAYS HATED MONOPOLY!!! Give me Scrabble, Aggravation, Operation, Uno, SkipBo, Old School Battleship (not that electronic BS), Clue, Risk, Stratego, Life, Yahtzee, etc...
We have an 8 year old granddaughter and passed three games that belonged to her 40 year old Mom and 37 year old Uncke, Candy Land, Real Battleship and Yahtzee.

People can look up the instructions for monopoly in a moment these days.

You also don't have to limit yourself to the player pieces that come with the game. Don't like the thimble? Play with a unique toy, a piece from another game, even just an interesting coin you find in your wallet. Be creative, it just needs to fit in the places on the board and be clearly different from the other pieces.
