Not only is the game that gave a kid a brain haemorrhage fake, Max STOLE that concept from a very real episode of a TV Show from the early 2000s called Fringe. So Max lied about the cult, lied about the game, he had the wholegrain audacity to plagiarize the game he lied about from a TV show.

Even before he was exposed, I never really liked his videos. He uses this edgy creepypasta voice and editing while discussing a very serious topic of child abu7e (censored, because YT is stupid). That is infuriating to me: his exploitation of a very serious subject and other people's trauma.

Seeing people argue about the veracity of the cult member emailing and threatening Max is so funny to me because I feel like everybody is overlooking an important detail. The cultist motivations never made sense from the very beginning. What in the hell was even the point of sending Max the game if it wasn't actually dangerous? What was the point of pretending to be a mother to begin with? And then yes how convenient that when the cultists supposedly gets found out he threatens to kill him in japanese. It's so obvious that the whole thing was just a very poorly written narrative from Max

the rolypoly one really pisses me off because one of the people who made the game is osamu sato, the creator of lsd dream emulator, osamu sato is a really cool artist and annoys the fuck out of me seeing him have lies spread about him and one of the games he worked on like that.

Honestly his early Youtube videos 100% explains this whole controversy. As soon as he started talking about how his Youtube audience was his real family it sealed it. Didn't get respect and admiration he needed from his family so he decided to use his passion project as his surrogate. Probably why he targeted Camden so heavily and wanted it to turn into a big documentary; the whole situation at that man's house likely reminded him of his own home life, so he was using it as a way to soothe his own conscience by rescuing one of the perceived victims, just like he wished he could have been when he was in his early 20s.

These kinds of people don't respond well to negative feedback, constructive or not, in good faith or a thinly veiled attempt at bullying. To Max, his Youtube career spawned out of spite is the only thing keeping him together, so anything attacking it is basically an attack on his reason to live. Only way this works out positively long term is if he can reconcile with his family, but it's possible that ship has sailed long ago.
