his point is that there is no difference between Jews. Conservative or reformed, Hasidic, Sephardic, Israeli, Russian, American, Practicing, convert to another religion or atheist. Jews are all one people. Jews are not just a religious group like Christians, Jews are also an ethnic group. He did not in anyway discuss those who choose to convert TO Judaism. He simply said that the brother's choice not to be a practicing Jew does NOT cut him from his ancestry or from the community of Jews.
