DISCLAIMER: obviously, this is how I like my coffee on trail and I get that it's a longer process than some people would like. I guess I'm just a big nerd when it comes to coffee! If you prefer instant coffee: lesGO!!! Drink it! Enjoy it! Praise it! I'm not forcing any method onto you, haha.

Aeropress coffee maker

Grinder
(You can also ditch the grinder and take coffee that's already ground at home, it'll take some of the flavour away, but it'll still be good!)

// r e c i p e
16 g of filter coffee - 250 ml of water
0 sec: pour up to 50 ml of water
30 sec: pour up to 250 ml of water (top of the Aeropress)
2 min: start pressing the coffee out for 30 sec
Stop pushing when you hear the hiss (unless you like some bitterness added to your coffee)
Enjoy!

I made a video about this subject because I get this question often!

// Do you have other hiking plans coming up?
Right now I don't have any hikes planned, but if life allows it, I'll be back on trail very soon!

I’ve been making aeropress for years, but never knew about benefit of two filters or to stop pressing once you hear the hiss. I’ll have to try those techniques! Thank you!!

Fantastic. I've got an Aero press, but no grinder that fits in it, so I'll see about that one!
Thanks.

That's exactly how I make my coffee at home (sometimes), on trail and in my camper. I'm just using less water, because I like my coffee stronger. It produces always good coffee.

Fantastic demonstration. Thanks.
Ideally, water should cool down to 195 Fahrenheit/ 90 Celsius for coffee.
Can’t wait to see your trip.
Happy Trails

Hi! I make my coffeee the exact way as you described. I love my aeropress. But I will be looking for a new grinder now, thats fits when I'm on the trail. Thanks for the tip and good videos. Cheers!

Hey Floor, eindelijk iemand die evenveel waarde hecht aan goede koffie on the trail. Love the videos by the way!

Thank you so much! As I love my morning ritual at home, where I grind my coffee manually and do a pour-over, I really missed my coffee routine on trail! Tested lots of instant coffees but I just didn't find anything tasting even vaguely similar to real good fresh coffee 😃 So hiking always meant, no coffee at all 🥺 Now I have a plan though, thanks for sharing! 😎

Ah Camasunary is a beautiful place! Guessing you are just a few miles North of Elgol? Absolutely love it there!

I go full out with a pour over set up on trips. My cook pot has a small spout so it acts like a kettle. Plastic Hario v60 62 grams, grinder 255 grams, and mug 45 grams. Funny enough that next trip I'm going on is the Isle of Skye. Nice video!

Great video. I guess with the Balkans trip you’ve been brewing at different altitudes and levels of humidity?

I wonder if that makes a difference to the brew? Like does the bloom phase more bubbly at higher altitudes?

Thanks for very detailed described process😊I would try this way of coffee, but I dont like to extra weight of grinder. So, on my hikes I will probably stick with cowbow coffee process❤

I use a Wacaco Minipresso for my trail coffee. It’s very easy to use.
Enjoy Skye, it’s a wonderful island Floor.
By the way, with your background in mind, do you know how many Flemington places there are in Scotland? Many Flemish people fled the continent and settled here where they were warmly welcomed.
