Hey everyone!! Thank you so much for watching my video!! Today I want to discuss 5 pros and 5 cons that I think are important to know before you move to Winston-Salem.

*During editing I realized that I made an error. Charlotte is the largest city in NC by population. Statics may not all be correct but the point of the video is to show the difference of Winston-Salem compared to other NC cities.

Pros:

1. low traffic
2. great food options
3. affordable housing
4. good weather year round
5. Education/Great High Schools and Colleges

Cons:

1. Pollen /Allergies
2. Boring Nightlife / Family Oriented/ Not the best city for singles or couples with no children
3. Not a huge city - No major airport or stadium/arena size space for major artist concerts in 2023
4. Construction
5.Need a car

Great broadcast! I 'm from Illinois originally and I lived in both Raleigh and Charlotte, Nc and it's okay in comparison to Chicago. Especially the weather. I'm thinking about moving to Greensboro, Nc in the next year or two. I'm living in Greenville, Sc now. I do like the weather and literally no snow. Keep up the great videos. I would say I liked it Charlotte better than Raleigh. Charlotte was more of a city feel compared to Raleigh was more an Surburban feel.

Good info, I'm still looking around but have a few 2b and 1b houses save in Winston. I don't need a huge place just me and my dog. I still have a little time left for everything here in Naples FL to get processed, I can't wait to move. Been in Naples since 83' when I was a kid and I hate it here.

Wow! You are so natural! No scripted hype one way or the other. So nice to listen to someone who is so real! !

I'm from the New York City suburbs and rail and bus lines do criss-cross some areas and get you to down to the City. While there are suburban communities here where you could get what you need totally using public transportation or walking, pretty much only people who can't afford a car or can't drive anymore, live that way. Lots of commuters use Metro North into New York City or take a bus to the subway in the north Bronx to the City.
However, the only people from the New York City metropolitan area who would be upset that you needed a car to get around would people who actually live in the City. If they are surprised that you need a car almost anywhere in the USA to get around, including North Carolina, they ether never leave New York City or didn't do research before moving. In fact, there are actually natives who hardly ever leave New York City but I guess they would not be moving to North Carolina! .

"Winston Salem is boring" SO TRUE. We live within a community of old grouches that lean too heavily into the "quiet family community" to the point that it feels like you are judged for wanting to do anything more than sit around, do nothing, and be nosy. So annoying. Ready to move simply because of that factor.

I think missing the “grown and sexy” night life is a good thing. I live in a small town now in ct, and everything is closed and shut down in the evening. Gives a sense of security but I could see why some would miss it but I think it’s just a lifestyle thing. I’m glad you mentioned that because that makes Winston-Salem more appealing to me. A little sad there isn’t too much diversity but if the city is growing, maybe it will change. That’s a con. So glad to know there’s a lot of medical care. That’s a big deal. Although I don’t work in it, it means a lot to me.
Thanks for this video. Definitely helps me decide where to go.

First of all, you're stunningly beautiful. We were just over there last weekend to visit Mrs. Hanes' cookie shop. We also went by Hanging Rock State Park. North Carolina is lovely by I prefer my home state of Tennessee. My husband was raised in the Moravian church in Wisconsin so he's very interested in Moravian history which Winston-Salem is rich in

This has been my experience overall with Winston-Salem. It has what you need with some extras, but not much beyond the essentials. Overall I like it, but, if you want a city of fireworks, move to the Raleigh-Durham area or Charlotte. Many people from here appear to view this place like people from small towns view their communities, not a city.

Thank you Yolanda for this up front, funny and true comparison of my home town. I agree that Winston is boring lol! We used to be a happy hour town, lots of social events and movement around getting together. We lost that feeling years ago and I believe it relates to losing many of our affluent businesses. We went into a funky slump. City leadership didn't dig in to find out exactly what direction they city would grow and invest funds to make us more attractive. . Charlotte used to be the pits, yep several years back...but now "Charlottes Got a Lot" because they wanted a change, engaged the citizenry and

What are your thoughts on Winston-Salem surrounding areas like Clemmons and Pfafftown?

All of the cons on here were pros for me. Except the pollen and the diversity factor. I prefer boring, I don’t like major cities. I have no interest in buying old homes. I prefer new construction. I would love to come visit and few times before I make the move from the Virgin Islands. 🇻🇮 But the weather though 😂 how cold does it get there?

Just wanted to correct you that Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina and Greensboro is the 3rd. Winston Salem is the 5th largest in North Carolina and Raleigh is the second largest. Great video and good to know about the pros and cons.

Great video!! I’m a new follower, do you have any videos for safety/crime rates? I’ll be moving to North Carolina Soon from Louisville, KY. Compared to my city, I’m hoping Winston-Salem/Greensboro will bring a sigh of relief.
