Guys, please stop apologizing for the shop segments, I cannot get that anywhere else. Looking forward to the even deeper dive into this monstrosity of a drivetrain.

Call it C200 Hybrid AMG, then nobody will be mad anymore

I believe many of us dislike this focus on 0-60 times while omitting the other elements that make driving enjoyable.
I don’t choose a beer that’s 11% alcohol. I choose a beer that I want to enjoy.

This vehicle incorporates everything everyone hates about modern cars in a truly impressive and horrifying way.

A four popper with eye-watering complexity for nearly $100k? Hard pass.

Naming a 4 cylinder engine a 63 is akin to calling a 4 door sedan a coupe. Words (and numbers) matter.

A mix of European regulations with Chinese-focused interior design! What a time to live in!

The shop segments are always the most fascinating, and sometimes scariest, part of these videos. This tech is insanely cool, no doubt, but it sucks seeing another addition to the trend of impractical-to-repair, disposable cars. Great video as always guys. The Burger was a nice touch!

The drive train explanation sounded like math homework. It delivers, but long term sounds like a maintenance headache. But that is true of a lot of cars today.

Personally, I hate all the screens. I realize I am from an older generation, but I find it ugly

The 6.2 v8 AMG Black was the pinnacle of C Class AMG cars. I would drive this car if one was given to me...drive it straight to the carmax and get cash, fast.

I can't wait to see how these things hold up with 4, 5, 6...owners. From a reliability standpoint, it might make an E60 M5 look like a Camry.

Thanks,

The new C63 AMG is a classic case of selling a car to people impressed by gimmicks and numbers on a spec sheet.

Had two of these. Both has build quality issues (rattles squeaks on both) transmission is unbelievably jerky under 40 mph. Ride is stiff and uncomfortable. 4 cylinder sounds is amplified thru speakers. No soul. Felt like Subaru WRX on steroids. Both had check engine lights within first 100 miles. Both made in South Africa. Returned them bought a BMW M. Best decision ever.

im sure this 4 cylinder is better than the old v8 performance wise, but people don't buy this kind of car for its performance. who would possibly need 600 hp on public road? people need the show factor, the emotion a v8 provides. this is exactly what the engineers at merc got wrong

I'll start with the fact I own a previous c63s sedan. I didnt buy it because "I'm rich, I want a fast car", I bought it because of the emotional V8 sound (albeit with turbos) that makes me want to go to the office even though I could work from home, it brings a smile to my face just starting it up, it has the practicality of the 4-door with a large boot so I can use it daily with my family. It allows me to go to a meeting and be formal and it allows me to be a straight up hooligan on the way back home if I want to.

I know an M3 would handle better, I know an RS would be faster but this is all beside the point as they fullfill different goals that I do not aim for.

The reason to buy an AMG were the emotions derived from that thunderous V8, the European muscle car if you want. It was never being the fastest or best handling on the road or track (GTR etc excluded).

Looking at it now, I can get an EV far cheaper and it is going to do exactly the same for me from an emotional perspective. Probably faster too and with less problems down the line.

But as you said, the hybrid tech in this four pot could wonderfully enhance a real V8 AMG engine that would still be full of emotions. Hopefully AMG listens to their customers.

This screen trend will age like milk, just like it did in the late 80's. I look forward to the pendulum swing back to real gauges.
