ok the IEI thing is so real. they always somehow end up in an area that is on neutral with everyone and so they dont often make enemies.

I noticed this manipuation tactics in myself as IEI, but honestly I use it more as means to hide my identity instead of messing with people. As SO4 I am very sensitive about being perceived negatively, and having been bullied for my interests and identity in school I just learned to hide my true feelings, because I don't want to be mocked or looked down upon.
So honestly, I would rather use a bit of deceit to hide who I am, than to be very bold about it and then again feel like an outcast. There are times where I am unapologetic about what I love/think, but this is mostly if I feel more confident or just in a more familiar environment.

The context of SEE varies there's a reason as to why SEE has a wider range of enneagram types. Subtypes are a meme, but I think they're more prevalent in some types than others. Gamma SF's fit into this category the most, as there's a clear distinction between an SEE E2 and an SEE E8 for example, however it's more simple to say SEE-Fi and SEE-Se.

I have a friend that will just make shit up and say it with no hesitation. she emailed her boss that her mom was getting a surgery and she’s the only one who could drive her and take care of her, she could get some days off work and go on vacation with me. she did this with no forethought too. just randomly made the story up on the spot, wrote the email, and sent it 💀she’s also lied about wayy worse, she’s gotten away with cheating in school or skipping classes bc she’s so quick at conjuring up some excuse and she also comes across really genuine and harmless so people let it slide. She once said her dad was dying so she could get out of a situation too and she makes all these emotional stories and no one ever questions or brings it up again. she will literally make herself believe her own lies and be immersed in the story as if it’s a FACT😭😭 it’s kinda funny ngl. she’s not malicious at all though she just manipulates in order to avoid getting in trouble, get to do something fun, or just out of boredom and wanting to make up stories to an unsuspecting audience. I think she’s an IEE, does this sound like IEE?

Some of the "best" manipulation I can do is seeing where things are going, and not doing anything about it, lol.

In some case, just placing myself to profit from it, whether actual profit or lesser stuff (usually, just a "told you so", lmao. Prep the salt for when they get wounded) To hammer the point, it's actually often that I tried to help them first, but I'm so bad at convincing/persuading them (which is the same skillset than manipulation), that they still make their mistake, anyway... It's the same with games and bluffing, I'm at my best when I answer a probe with silence or a smirk, anything beyond that doesn't work much. I guess some of it includes people thinking I'm totally harmless, carelessly giving me everything to fuck them over if I want, or not seeing I can access some information.

But yeah, fundamentally, it's just letting them make their own mistakes.

I don't consider that quite manipulation, after all, it's ultimately passive/inactive, and pure opportunism based on what other do... If anything, it's observation. But hey, some people consider a "lie by omission" to be a lie (you know, entitled people who think we have a duty to report the truth to them, and/or blame other for their own mistakes), so I guess it's worth mentionning.

There's also the stuff that is "below manipulation", where it's weird.

For example, when I'm sarcastic, people often believe me, even if they totally see through me when I'm lying. It's quite weird to me, because my sarcasm look far more obvious to me than my lies. Likewise, I can be good when it's a prank/mischevious trick, ie, harmless fun. Like, thijnk of something like telling someone the way to fix their PC issue is to use Alt+F4, though it can get a lot more complex than this. For example messing with someone, tricking them into believing something for fun. It's not gaslighting them, but close enough... For some reason, in that style, I can get a lot of success. And even the master manipulator fall for it. Perhaps, not so surprising, since, it's playing in my area and not theirs : When it comes to the "how to" and knowledge, us T types have the advantage. (We might even say there are two types of manipulation, T and F wise)

Btw, while I agree with the ranking, since we don't engage in much manipulation, I think it's wrong to say we don't understand it ? I find I actually understand a lot of this stuff better than average, even if it's like an Alien observing it from outside. It's in part because I researched the science behind it all, which is sometime more insightful than what the naturals get. And well, most often, our social problem are more that we don't give a shit, and/or we get lost in the possibilities (TiNe on overdrive, we can interpret the situation in multiple way, and instead of picking the most likely/99% certain one, we often leave the question open) In both case, it's a decision dooming us. It's not like this stuff is that complex to get, and unlike other, we don't let our personal biases get into it, which is the first sources of fatal mistakes... I don't mean that I'm good at playing the game, but I can understand it when I see it. For example, you ranked the IEI as snakes, and I totally agree. Never trusted them, and I rarely fall for their BS, while tons of people do.

I know this was made a year ago, but I'd argue that ESE should be higher than EIE, but below SEE.

The ESE can manipulate the realm of Si and adapt PERFECTLY to the realm of Se. Se and Si have to be the traits that our modern day society values more than anything else-- highly hedonistic, beauty oriented, and willpower oriented society. Many of the people and celebrities that we look up to are ESE, and same said people end up having dark sides that we didn't know about but were patched up so well due to them influencing the general public in said realms I just talked about.

Rust i think it's depending in circumstances, ILI and LII can manipulate too based on their logic and intuition, I think it's all depends in any kind of manipulation, Emotional manipulation they're at the lowest

I find it funny that you have LSI ranked higher than LII, considering the fact that LII with Ne creative would be much better at understanding potential and needs of the people he wants to manipulate. I remember that somewhere LII was even called "a type of revolutionary conspirator".

imo SEEs climb hierarchies in more chaotic or toxic (??) environments like a school environment. EIEs do better in professional settings.

You should mention though that you’re talking about unhealthy behavior and that every single type can also be a good person with good intentions.

SEE can be a snake when extremely unhealthy, but the average SEE is usually a friendly and moral person. Jack from WSS made a good video explaining Se+Fi blocking, where he talks about how these people can be the most loyal and chivalrous people you‘ll ever meet.

This might be a weird comparison, but in terms of Hogwarts Houses Gamma SF (especially SEE) would be the archetype for Gryffindor. Unhealthy SEE might go to slytherin tho.
