The remote Revillagigedo Archipelago off Mexico’s Pacific coast is a hotspot for giant mantas that interact with awe-struck scuba divers. Scientists with the Pacific Manta Research Group are studying the local population using photo ID techniques and acoustic tags which track the movements of these mysterious fish. Experts from Pelagios Kakunjá are conducting experiments to see if the filter-feeding rays are impacted negatively by microplastics, tiny pieces of toxic trash that float in the ocean.

Love Mantas; keep up the great work you do for them and sharks related species. They are the most miraculous survivors through many eons on earth; dont let humans be there demise.

Wow how very special - we are so consumed by our lives and all the trials and tribulations especially in this era of Pandemic we lose track of what is happening in the far depths. It is the dedication of these few people that shine a light on our eco systems and the sheer beauty and wonder of sublime creatures such as the Mantas and how their very existence affects mankind’s future.

How great it is to have Dr Robert Rubin showing us his masculine, scientific ability to be able to connect with the Windmills of his Mind... there is no wasted day at sea. I have been loving it since I first waded into the waves at Costa Mesa in 1958. I was seven years old. I would like to work with Dr Rubin, helping to prepare healthy, tasty meals for his crew. Listen again, to Dusty Springfields song, Windmills of Your Mind.

I was blessed to be onboard the Quino El Guardian during the filming of this episode. At minute marker 18:00 look who is wearing the "Rubber Chicken" award.

The world needs so much education on litter, alternate options for plastic. Countries send their products all over the world so no way to know where the litter came from. We should look into the eyes of all animals and make better choices as humans.
