You can also make drawer dividers by cutting cardboard to the right size, using masking tape to cover and strengthen the corners and edges, and then covering the piece in fabric. Good if your needs change a lot, you don't have a saw, or you have a lot of extra fabric and cardboard around. :)

I like to use DIY slotted cardboard strips instead of buying wood - cheaper, easier. I like your paper drawer template for dry fitting. I also use old mugs and other cups for tall stuff, old ash trays for small stuff.

Pro tip: Line the bottom of your drawers with craft paper or a paper of your choice!
You can even allocate particular colours per tool type.
