Inside Hotel Aguas Claras: The Gem Guests Keep Secret
Показать описание
Welcome to Hotel Aguas Claras, part of my Best Hotels & Resorts in Costa Rica series, where we uncover a true hidden gem on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast. This boutique hotel is so beloved by its guests that they almost don’t want you to know about it. Imagine waking up to the sounds of howler monkeys and feeling the love and care infused by its mother-daughter owners, Elizabeth and Elena. With its vibrant art, unique bungalows, and retro design, this might just be Costa Rica's most charming resort.
Hotel Aguas Claras is nestled in a tranquil spot, far from the typical tourist hustle, making it perfect for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path adventure. The hotel features seven Caribbean-style cottages, each with its own private garden and large verandah, and six Pavlova suites with outdoor showers. Dining here is a delight with a single but fabulous restaurant, blending retro 70s vibes with curated Caribbean music. The pool, bar, and restaurant seamlessly blend together, creating a relaxed, yet vibrant atmosphere. And for those needing a bit of pampering, the on-site spa, Casa Gandhi, offers serene yoga and spa sessions tucked away in the jungle.
Getting to Hotel Aguas Claras is a bit of an adventure itself, being a four-hour drive from San Jose airport and seven hours from Liberia airport. But the journey is well worth it for the tranquility and charm that awaits. Ideal for couples, solo travelers, and families with children over four, this hotel offers free snorkeling equipment and bikes for guests, along with a plethora of off-property activities. While the hotel isn’t right on the beach, a pleasant three-minute walk will take you to their beach club with a bar and dining options. So, if you’re looking for a unique, affordable, and truly charming Costa Rican getaway, Hotel Aguas Claras should be at the top of your list.
Why should you trust us?
Our goal is to save you time by finding the best hotels and experiences for you, and eliminate the stress of paying for something before you understand if it’s right for you. We work with total editorial independence. That means nothing appears in our videos as a recommendation unless we’ve tried it and loved it. These are the hotels and activities we choose for ourselves and recommend to our family and friends.
We strive to be the most trusted, the most transparent, boutique hotel recommendation service…. ever. If you choose to use our link to book a hotel, you are supporting our work. You can go around us – it won’t save you any money. This hotel commission fee supports us as we travel the world looking for the best places. Running a business costs money, and this is how we cover most of our expenses.
We curate unusual, independent, and sustainable boutique hotel experiences. We’re a small team of 3.5 people – for now. Our founder Don is an American who’s lived about half his life overseas and has traveled to over 60 countries – always looking for that perfect hotel, and often being disappointed. Before starting Swank, Don worked as an entrepreneur in the clean energy space, and then sustainable housing – one of the reasons sustainability is in our DNA.
