Does Hydroguard Reverse Root-Rot?

Is Hydroguard worth it for root-rot treatment and prevention? My conclusion is that it’s probably more effective as a preventative than treatment. It does seem to increase root growth and can help save a plant that’s beginning to get root rot.

Hydroguard works better in an oxygenated environment. In the presence of oxygen, aerobic bacteria such as b. Amyloliquefaciens has an easier time reproducing and can better act as a root rot preventative or treatment. The bacteria colonize the water to outcompete the bad bacteria such as pythium. You can use enzymes to help the hydroguard bacteria thrive as well. In a kratky system, I've found that a lot of times the bacteria can't reach its full potential and can be outcompeted quickly due to being hindered by a lack of oxygen. Best to stick to dwc or a recirculating system if you're going to use Hydroguard, at least in my experience.

You will get root problems if your roots are exposed to daylight.
Keep your root zone in the dark☺
