This is a HUGE Problem in Gran Turismo 7...

Track limits are a MAJOR issue right now in Gran Turismo 7 - so much so that it's hard to take Daily Race leaderboards seriously. Hopefully Polyphony Digital takes note of this and makes some changes before the next update.

Just to everyone who see this and instantly thinks "cheater", it's not the case. I hope everyone can understand that this was done to expose it to get it fixed quicker. It's nothing to with personal gain. Let's try get this fixed guys 🙏

Discovered this recently as well on single player mode. As long as you touch some asphalt at some point, you can cut several seconds off times.

I really can't understand why they implement penalties in this way... The time penalty should be implemented only in races, while in qualifying there should be deletion of laps. They used to have that in older GT titles I just can't understand why they decided to change something which has been doing well.

I almost lost a position cause of this. The guy was right behind me and I didn't know you could cut the corner so I took it properly and he took that shortcut and he almost fish tailed me, didn't get a penalty for hitting me and almost spinning me out either, but I still ended up beating him by around 0.030 to take second.

In my limited experience, track violation seems to be mostly be enforced for the outside of turns, not the inside. I find that really strange. Carry too much speed into a corner so that you touch too much grass and you'll get a penalty, but cut across the inside, fully on the grass, gives no penalty.
Not the same in all corners, but it's an overall theme, in my experience. I keep being surprised at not getting a penalty for accidentally cutting too much, and likewise surprised that I was apparently too far out in a curve. :/

0:22 i did this to purposely invalidate my lap (to start lower down and make it more fun) and I was shocked when no penalty came up!

Track limits have always been a mess, but for the daily race C issue I feel like it would be a pretty simple fix for the devs, just needs to do a check if they get the delayed penalty and not count the previous lap, they did that in GT Sport from what I recall, so guessing these exploits will be patched... eventually.

Haven't tried out Sport Mode yet, been a bit leery to give it a go since my experiences with GT Sport. Hopefully they get this fixed, cause I'd like to do some legit competitive racing.

I’ve been enjoying it in races against the NPCs. Finally a realistic game where grass doesn’t bring you to a halt.

This is why I currently stay out of the online mode, except some lobby races that are some great fun to sometimes. Great video though its good some people brings this on because it clearly needs some attention to fix.

They don’t have time to fix it. They’re too busy working on ways to force us into buying credits through microtransactions.

I don’t think it’s fixed. Polyphony is more worried about us grinding to get the best cars. getting all our money through micro transactions is way more important.
