Who loves fight scenes, we love fights scenes! In this video we talk about how to write a fight scene!

Back in my FanFiction days, fight scenes were my jam (and still are frankly). So I thought this would be an appropriate 'how to video', AuthorTube has helped me immensely with improving my fight scenes as well (definitely go watch the videos on the subject by Kim Chance, Jenna Moreci, and Vivien Reis, if you want to make your battles even more epic)!

These are great tips.
I love that you added to keep the scene realistic because I hate when there is a huge battle or fight and everybody lives and just walks away xx

Even though I do not currently write fight scenes, I think that some of this advice can help with any scene. I have had a consistent problem of writing dull and lifeless scenes. They might sound good, but the stakes aren't high enough and the pacing is slow-- even though I tend to focus on a character's internal development. I used to avoid writing advice on fight scenes before, thinking that it did not apply to 'my style'-- but right now, my style sucks. And writers never stop learning. Great video!

Ooh, I especially like the bit about researching historical battles for realism. You can't write characters who are adept with crafting battle plans if you yourself don't know anything about battles. Definitely saving this video for reference.

I think another thing that really helps with fight sequences is to choreograph them uniquely -- use your setting creatively. The Pirates of the Caribbean movies are terrific with this, like when Jack and Will are dueling in the smithee, balancing on wooden beams, whilst engaging in plot-relevant dialogue that may seem like witty banter but actually has purpose.

Awesome video xx
