Super helpful! We have a new install and the outside handle was loose. I took it apart and surprise, the set screws were inside the shower so I just flipped the handles. The regular side is still a little loose (wobbles from side to side a little) but I tightened the screws as tight as I could. I'll have to do some more digging to figure that out. Maybe the phillips screws are a little too long? IDK. Either way, this video was really good!

Sweet!!! I usually break things so was hesitant to tighten the screws until the cows came home. Then I saw your video and there was an internal screw that needed tightening. Who knew? Worked like a charm. THNX

Thank you Ben, this tutorial was very helpful, I'm having trouble unscrewing the set screws, is there any other suggestion rather than cutting handle in half. The door was installed in 2008 and handle is on shower side. I may have stripped the set screw with allen key. Any suggestions??

Dude! Do you know how long my handles sat there loose? Finally I took them off. It took me a minute to figure out what you were doing with the screws, but the total fix was under ten minutes (maybe under five).

I had figured out it had something to do with the set screws, but didn’t realize the rods, as you called them, were the problem.

I want to add my thanks. Our handle keeps getting loose and I've removed it and reinstalled it a couple of times. Your video showed me that it was installed incorrectly in the first place and I just kept reinstalling it incorrectly. It hadn't been installed with the bolts going through the door and then screwing in to the handle. It had the bolts in the handle and then that inserted into the door. Took someone to hold it in place on one side while I held and tightened the other side. Now I see how simple it should be.
