I think you're spot on with some of these gripes. You did hit the nail on the head, though. TYM's have more simplicity reflected in the cost. It's all a trade-off. Great video Brock

I thought your comments were logical and on point. As a fellow TYM owner I would add that I really like my tractor and consider it a very good value for the cost. My only complaints in addition to yours are:

1. Noise. The noise level in the cab is so high having a radio is a waste of money since you could never hear it without headphones. Spending all day in a cab this loud is a hearing hazard that requires use of ear plugs or ear muffs. I use noise canceling headphones phones.

2. The radiator protection is poor. Not just from a lack of a good grill as you mention but the general filtration is quite poor and nearly useless when it is hot and dry as it usually is in the Midwest summers. I find my 474 overheats 2-3 times a day when things get hot and dusty. TYM designers need to improve on this. It’s an area that needs attention and a redesign shouldn’t be very costly.

I saw a guy going over the mods on his TYM . He put extra long extensions on the remote levers and it was no longer a problem 👍

You are so correct about the skid steer attachment system. The JD hook & pin is by far the best for tractors. I am blind in 1 eye, ended up painting alifnment marks, that i can see with the camera mounted on the brush guard. As a last resort, sometimes i end up standing beside the Passenger side of the tractor, so i can work the pedals & joystick to hook up. It is unbelievable how important depth perception is to perform these simple tasks...

I have a tym 474. Im in Michigan. My priorities when buying it was being able to lift my 1500 pound round bales, having hydrostat so my wife would drive it, and having a heated cab for the winter. I had an open station massey before that I loved, but TYM was $18000 less money for a cab tractor than massey, john deere, or anyone els. If I trade tractors again, I will get 24 inch rear rims. THere is much larger selection of tires available in 24 inch rims for more liquid ballast capacity. THis tym is a little clunky. THe rear remote levers, like he said, are very short, and awkward to operate. My range selector doesnt move smoothly. The 3 point lever inside the cab is short and too close to the seat. Like I said, the tractor is a little clunky, but for the money, it does everything I want it to do. Im happy with it overall.

I appreciate that you keep it real with your likes and dislikes with your tractor Brock, respect. I'm also surprised that you've got 60 or so hours on that tractor already! You've only had it for a month or so, right? You're doing a lot of tractoring!!! 🙂

More than just semantics, there's a difference between a grill guard and a brush guard. The grill guard offers protection from front end collision damage when a loader is not present, whereas the brush guard protects from intrusion damage, as with grapple use. Why tractor manufacturers haven't gotten the message that we need a real tool box on these machines is beyond me.

Hi there Brock. One of the things that make the T574 simplistic is the auto throttle is not a fly by wire system and has a physical connection that utilizes motion instead of switches. The only way to stop the auto throttle function is to disconnect the lever connector. The hand throttle uses a cable separately.

I just watched your video and I'm glad I bought the tractor I chose to buy .
I bought a Kubota Grand L 3560 Hst with cab 805 loader and a BH92 Backhoe and loaded industrial tires .
Although my tractor is the lowest Hp tractor in its class 37 Hp, I love it .
The backhoe is the simplest setup I've seen to remove or put on, and very impressive performance!
The tractor has many features that you make mention of that you wish your tractor had.
Stall guard, auto throttle, and a throttle control button on the joystick to control loader speed without adjusting the main throttle.
Pto speed can be controlled by the stall guard function and it helps maintain pto and slows down the tractor only if the load becomes an issue and then readjusts driving speed on it own as load becomes easier.
This is an awesome tractor for loader work .
Many other features as well as shifting engagements can by adjusted to operators liking. The only thing I've done or changed is
I've added a curved LED light bar to the front of the cab and LED Lights to the rear of the tractor.
A few things I wish Kubota would do is put higher flow hydraulic pumps on the equipment and i wish loader lifting capacity would be a little higher than 1720 lbs .
Many other things can be Monitored as well .
To many things to add or describe here.

Im surprised that theres not at least a dummy light for hydraulic oil temp at a minimum. Good overall video after looking at tym and LS you covered the same issues that i had found as well

My thoughts only, I've had a lot of experience with tractors. The advantage of a manual transmission over hydrostatic is that you set your RPM and control ground speed by selecting the appropriate gear. As for auto throttle its not for me. I dare say a lot of people would disagree.

Yes i think everyone thinks if you have all the money in the world, JD is awesome. They have the control to create a better quick attach, better belly mower attach system, and im sure there are some other things they have a patent on. Other than the belly mower though i dont think their patents justify the price premium. For me there is a price/convenience line and JD is way over the line.

so what you are saying is the TYM is by far the best bang-4-buck

Brock, I don’t think it’s fair to compare the JD backhoe you have to the TYM backhoe. They’re completely different. One is a subframe and one is a 3 point hitch. The subframe has significant more power than a three point (one not on steroids, like yours). I’ve had both and will go subframe all day. While storage and installation is more difficult, I’d take the power every day. Thanks for the content!

Just bought TYM 4820Ch. Very similar model to T574. Many small issues you listed here do not exist in "Branson" line of TYM. Just FYI if you want to compare and contrast.

It's hard to put a price on customer support and dealer availability. Nice video, thank you.

The most important part of a cab tractor is the A/C and heat, never heard a word of that spoken. If you're in the South then you need to have a cold blowing A/C unit, up North you need that warm heat. Would love to hear someone comment about the A/C and Heat system in their TYM cab tractor.

I find it interesting that on that model TYM that you can’t disable auto throttle. I have a 2016 TYM T394 and there’s a button on the dash that allows me to disable it and run constant/manual throttle.

I have the exact same tractor and agree with you completely with one addition it would be nice if it had rear defrost when moving snow the back window tends to fog and frost up!
