NASA's Mars Rover Spotted Earth From Mars

NASA's Curiosity rover on Mars has captured its first view of Earth from the surface of the Red Planet — a striking image that shows our home planet as a bright light in the Martian sky, with the moon shining nearby.

The Curiosity rover photographed Earth from Mars on Jan. 31 using the left-eye camera on its head-like science mast. You can see a video of Curiosity's Earth-from-Mars images here.

I like to imagine future generations of people living on mars will be wondering what we tried so hard to colonize the red planet.

Imagine being a Martian stuck inside everyday looking out at the cold radiated Martian desert to then look up with a telescope and see the beautiful planet earth.

It would feel tortuous in a sense knowing your stuck on a deserted wasteland that your ancestors tried so hard to colonize for some reason.

sunset and sunrise on mars looks bluish💙 And sky looks reddish

Fun fact: earth will be only visible in Sunset or sunrise only in mars its because earth was closer to sun to mars so phasing would be different but yeah the fact any planets closer than your main planet would only visible to sunset or sunrise if earth was farther on mars earth would be visible in daytime

Wait a minute. So Earth and Mars had a close approach in October 2020, and I could see Mars with my naked eye and it was larger than Earth appears here. The problem is that Earth is twice as large as Mars, and so it would be twice as big in the sky. And, this photo was taken only 3 months after the close approach, so Earth should have still been quite larger in the sky. Something fishy here.
