Ever wondered who were the first 3000 believers to be filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit on Shavuot/Pentecost described in Acts chapter two?

Hebrews/Jews from many nations were attending the Feast. Who were these people and what did they believe? Which religious sect of the day did they identify with? These Jews were the first believers in the early Messianic church.

In part one of this ground breaking study, Dr. Miles Jones and research scholar, Eddie Chumney examine clues from historical accounts, early documents and the scriptures to uncover a very fascinating perspective into the rapid expansion of this emerging Messiah movement.

Eddie chumney is the first one beside myself that understands that Bathus and Sadoc ... students who became two other sects to include Sadockim not the Tzadokim from the descendants of the priestly order. Thank you.

“Boethus” in Mishnaic Hebrew is Beit-Os short for Beit-Ossim.
That is literally “House of the Doers” בית עושים as in Qumran.
In other words the Tzedokim and Ossim/Essenes split a part.
This is well known by the Rabbis but not in many translated works.
I’d love to share the Hebrew sources if Dr. Jones is interested.

Question for Miles and Eddie: If you assume that the 3, 000 in Jerusalem were Essenes/Zadoks …. Why were they there keeping the Deut 16:16 command on the HILLEL calendar? Surely they’d keep the Feast of Pentecost according to ZADOK calendar?

It was a pilgrim festival time; they were from the Diaspora in Jerusalem for the Festival (Penticost). The Scripture plainly says that they spoke different languages, and the Core Believers after being filled with the Spirit spoke in different tongues-of-man. Those pilgrims come to observe the festival heard the message in their own native languages. This fits right along with the bad teachings found in the different kinds of churches. Your theories have to take into account all of the Scripture!

Josephus does not describe 3 main religious philosophies of the Jews, but describes 4. He doesn't give much ink to the Zealots, though, probably because he is writing a sympathetic history of the Jews for the benefit of the Romans. It would not be a good idea to spell out the beliefs of the Zealots to the Romans. But they were there nonetheless. Also, we do not know whether the Qumranites were synonymous with the Essenes.

Respectfully challenging your supposition as fact that all 3000 had to be one sect.... ? That is not supported by scripture. Joh 12:42-43  Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.  (THESE RULERS would have been in Jerusalem consenting to or at least not objecting to the crucifixion of Y'shua, it is very likely at least some of them were included in the 3000 as well as many others... then when faced with the truth of His resurrection and Peter's witness and condemnation they very likely would have repented. If the Essenes where all that you claim they were and recognized Y'shua as the Messiah because of their teachings they surely wouldn't have been among those in Jerusalem who Peter accused as being THOSE WHO CRUCIFIED Him. Who was Peter speaking to when 3000 believed? see passage below)

Act 2:36  Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, WHOM YOU CRUCIFIED, both Lord and Christ.
Act 2:37  Now WHEN THEY HEARD THIS, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, WHAT SHALL WE DO?
Act 2:38  Then PETER SAID UNTO THEM, repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 2:39  For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Act 2:40  And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
Act 2:41  Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

There were people there from all over, including the diaspora and also chief rulers who had secretly believed and had been in Jerusalem when He was crucified. If the self-proclaimed "Sons of Zadok" and many Essenes were already exiled to Qumran how could they be among those that had 'crucified Him'? They also would not have been among the 'rulers' who believed but were worried about getting kicked out of the synagogues. The 3000 who were convicted as "those that crucified Him" was likely a mix of many different sects from many different areas including Samaritans, Zealots, Priests, Rulers, Lay People, Essenes, etc. Every sect had something they got wrong and had to repent of. The inhabitants of Qumran and or writers of some of the scrolls did NOT have everything right... i.e. therefore if the Essenes were at all associated with them as is claimed they also would not have had everything right. Some of the Qumran scrolls include astrology as well as VERY strict Sabbath rules which were specifically part of what Y'shua chastised when He said the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. The DSS scrolls even say you can't use a pole on the Sabbath to save a drowning man... It should not be claimed as fact that they were all Essenes.

So far, just a ton of assumptions. In the presence of a lack of evidence, you can't just come up with your own philosophy and have it be true. Yehovah has always produced exact evidence to prove something. So far, even though the premise might possibly be true, until proven, it is only a theory.

Certainly the Cochin text of Matthew does say the the Saduccees approached Yeshua and asked tested him concerning the resurection, in Matt 22:23 Cochin Matthew. When Yeshua addressed the scribes and Pharisees, the scribes were a division of the Pharisees, called Soferim, the soferim were the ancient sect of what would become the Pharisees, that was passed down from Ezra, and certainly not every Pharisee and scribe were corrupt, many scribes Pharisees and Priests believed and followed Yeshua, to assume that the 3000 original followers of Yeshua were from Qumran or Essences that Eddy Chumney ascribes to is wrong and untrue, Paul himself said that he was a Pharisee and never renounced that aspect of his life, in fact if you were to label the followers of Yeshua they were actually labeled as Am Haeretz, or common people of the land, a negative slang that the religious leaders put on the common humble folks, you know such as fishermen in the Galilee, honestly Miles and Chumney are chasing wanting to lump everything in nice organized groups, without a doubt the Qumran community or Essences effected the common people such as the 12 disciples who were common fishermen from the Galilee, this to assume that the Essences alone recieved the Holy Spirit alone is not supported by scripture nor history, the fact of the matter is that although there were 3 major sects in the first century, there were many different Jewish sects and the common people took a variety of teachings from all the sects and beliefs going around most people who followed Yeshua were just common people of the land, who like every good Jew belonged to a Synogoge that’s just the fact of this and is supported by scripture.

0: 18 - . You make a distinction between "Christian" and "Followers of Messiah", and rightly so.
The title "Christian" today refers to the multitudes of people observing the
Opposite day
of the week
from the
Commanded Day
of the week.
There are 7 Scriptures commanding the 7th Day Sabbath:
Exodus 20: 10
Exodus 23: 12
Exodus 31: 15 and 16
Exodus 35: 2
Leviticus 23: 3
Genesis 2: 2.
🔸Matthew 5: 18. Not One.
And elaborated at
Isaiah 58: 13 and 14.
There are 0 Scriptures commanding a weekly sun day observance. 0.
Those cited as permission to do otherwise do not say nor mean that.
For example,
Acts 20: 7
refers to the yearly Shavuot/Pentecost commanded in Leviticus 23.
Proven by counting the 50 days from the weekly Sabbath.
And the multitudes are teaching the
Opposite
concerning the state of the dead, saying they're still alive and conscious.
Yet the Followers of Yeshua accept
John 11: 11 - 14.
Ecclesiastes 12: 7, yes, but totally Asleep until the resurrection to physical life on this Earth,
Ezekiel 37: 1 -
and
Revelation 20: 12
Leading, after education, exhortation, correction, to
v 13. Not at the same time,
because they are the
secondfruits!!,
Jeremiah 31: 31.
As He has today with we the firstfruits,
I Peter 4: 17.
The answer to the question being the above
Jeremiah 31: 31,
Praise His name.
