You’re one of the best I’ve found on YouTube when it comes to Achilles problems. So many people just lump Achilles problems altogether and suggest you treat them all the same, and with the same exercises…which many times just makes the problem(s) worse. For instance, one of the most common forms of Achilles problems doesn’t actually involve Achilles tendinitis at all. Rather, it’s called “retrocalcaneal bursitis, ” and can mimic the same symptoms. Doing the same exercises for this problem as you would for Achilles tendinitis is the last thing you would want to do.

I didn’t have pain but I felt a pop in the Achilles and then discomfort when trying to run. Then in about two hour, I had slight pain.

Not sure if I have partial tearing. It is a light but sharp pain, like a needle, in the back of my heel at random times when pushing off. No swelling or pain when touching it. Still going to see a doctor tomorrow (then maybe a physiotherapist afterwards). Started to happen during the middle of sprint training.

Hey, just came across your channel and had a question. I have been doing calf raises at the gym quite regularly the past month, every other workout in fact. For the past 2 days the heels of my feet have been in bits, it feels like I have walked a marathon on rocks and the area around both Achilles are now aching with it. I was reading up on Achilles tendinitis and I’m hoping that’s not what I have! Any thoughts?

Thanks!!

I felt a sharp pain up my Achilles when playing football, after my studs got stuck in the ground after jumping, it’s slightly painful to bear weight on and painful to walk on, but there isn’t much swelling or bruising, do you think this could be some sort of partial tear or not? If so is it worth seeing a doctor?

I think i may have partially torn mine in my last triple jump of the season. Happened 10 months ago and my tendon still feels weak when i push off and it’s more flexible on my injured side than my uninjured side. But im a d1 track athlete so I’ve still been doing triple jump workouts from September-Now. And there is more weakness than pain. Recently, though, there’s been more pain. What do I do? I’m not sure if it’s an actual partial tear.

I have a slight indentation/gap in my left leg/calf insertion point but still can point my toes and stand on my tippy toes? I pass the Thompson test, and have still been able to run and jump fine with minimal soreness. Why is there a small gap when I point my toes? what’s going on?
