Back in Oz Halloween is not huge but it is becoming increasingly popular as our county adopts so many aspects of American culture. Yesterday however I arrived in LA and damn it was next level. It was really cute to see the kids and their families in the neighbourhood I'm staying in, but we went into see the parade and it was crazy. I completely agree with you on the offensive costumes stance though.
My question in regards to Thanksgiving, and I'm looking to hear from a Native American voice on this if possible, What is the history behind this day for your people? In a Australia I don't celebrate Australia day (very unpatriotic I know) because for the Australian Aboriginal people this was invasion day which was followed by the near genocide of their people by white settlers. Hope this doesn't offend anyone, just wanting to know more.
