That was called the Caldor Fire. It rapidly grew due to most resources fighting the Dixie fire to the north. The edge of Desolation is right as you get to the upper shores of Echo Lake as you come down from Aloha, there is a sign that is easy to miss on the way down. Hopefully the new name doesn't mean you can only turn left, quickly! lol

I took a trail name that I came up with and there's nothing wrong with picking your own trail name in my opinion.
