Dressel is great but Phelps is just a whole level. Swim gets faster over time, but no other swimmer has been as dominant for so long as Phelps.

Also, comparing these two men is comparing apples and oranges. Dressel is a sprinter. Phelps is a middle and long distance swimmer. Dressel is about bursts of speed. Phelps is about consistency and endurance. That's why he had such a long career and why the back half of his races were always the best. Both men are good but Dressel cannot be called a legend (yet-we'll see). Phelps is a legend and an icon- his kind come around once in a lifetime :)

Dressel is good, but to remind you all the fact that this guy “Michael phelps “ kept his record and dominated for a straight 16 years even when he was competing against the best from all nations.

Phelps is still the best swimmer of all time and Dressel is also the best in his time. What I like about Dressel is he is so humble and grateful everytime he wins.👍👍👍

Phelps is the best ever, but Dressel is a better sprinter, bouth of them are one of there own, 2 swimming legends.

One thing Caleb benefits from is 11 more years of science on reducing drag by refining stroke and kick techniques. Especially when it comes to dolphin kicks off the wall and from the starting platform. Also underwater photography has become much more common now and for a good part of Caleb’s generation for improved training at an early age with GoPros and even iPhones now.

No doubt Dressel is faster now, but in order to reach Phelp's level, Dressel needs to remain world class for at least 1-2 more Olympics! But we are confident in him!

I swear I've already seen this video.
Like, I remember watching it.
I remember that he compares Phelps' and Dressel's times from the 100 freestyle and butterfly, and what Dressel could potentially get on the 200 freestyle and the 200 and 400 IM.
He also concluded with that there is no doubt about who is the greatest swimmer of all time, and that it was Michael Phelps

Both are legends. Dressel won’t break Phelps medal count. They swim different races. Met Dressel one time was super nice. Wish them the both the best.

Both are legendary swimmers. Phelps is good at distance, Caeleb is good at speed. Caeleb is also younger. I had a lot of younger swimmers aspire to be as fast as me and a couple years later they were! Also had a couple older swimmers faster than me, later I outpaced them. Caeleb has a really long streamline, that is really what gives this guy an upper hand in any swim.

If dressel can get 8 medals in 1 Olympics and get 23 overall then sure he can be on par with Phelps

I think they're both the best, caeleb at sprints and Phelps at distance/mid distance.

Why is this necessary? Phelps did more events, showing greater versatility. Dressel is explosive and sprints. There are too many variables for an actual comparison.
