The M1 MacBook Air is still very viable in 2024 and going forward. Best of all it can be found new on sale at times for $749. I do some gaming on my Mac from time to time so I like having a bit more built in storage space. I went with an M1 Pro 14 last year for $1500 on Apple's certified refurbished program. This is a really great way to save some money as Apple goes beyond what other companies would consider refurbished. You basically get what feels like a brand new device sealed in shrink wrap. All the exterior casing and components are brand new. The only thing that is used its the internal board. Currently the M2 Pro 14 is $1599, the M1 Air 13 is $849, and the M2 Air 13 is $929. These things are built to last and perform like a dream, so they are a great investment for a minimalist making to stretch their dollar. Even though they are not the newest laptops on the market, they will be useable for years.

Regarding the Caldigit TS3+, what cable do you have between the TS3 and your monitor, did you need to get a DisplayPort-HDMI or can you connect over Thunderbolt?

I still love my Mateview 28.5 but I got an amazing deal on an Apple Studio Display, and after using them side by side, the Studio Display is unbeatable.
