The NBA is doing a great job with those publicity stunts. Adam Silver is a genius. The Jason Collins story, the woman that got hired as an assistant coach, the Isaiah Austin story and now this.

If this guy can slim down, then he might actually be pretty good,

I had this dude arguing with me on Bleacher Report saying this dude is Canadian and not Indian.

India is 2nd most populated country in the world.  Sim Bhullar might not be Yao Ming like in the NBA but its a start.  I know he's Canadian but even having Indian descent might open new doors for basketball in India.  Its a untapped market.

the kings basically got him to make history? I've seen his highlights, not a lot of talent, yeah very tall and could be a burden, but meh.

He may not be the most talented player, and probably won't make a significant impact in the NBA, but he represents his country heavy by being the first Indian in the NBA. I rate that, congrats

Same thing when Yao came to the nba lol

I think signing this guy is purely a gimmick, he's done nothing to earn a roster spot...not even in summer league.  The owner is Indian so he obviously has a soft spot for this kid and understands he will be a spectacle and the team will gain tonnes of fans not only from India, but fans of Indian descent around the world.

I have a feeling Kings signed Sim Bhullar because Vivek Ranadive who is the owner of the Kings is Indian himself
