I really got myself into a jam by trying to repair my car on my own, and ended up with the car door jammed in such a way that I couldn't open it from the inside or outside. I spent almost two hours struggling, trying to fix it all by myself, and then decided to go on YouTube, where I found your tutorial video. It helped me solve the problem completely.

My dad and I did this on my 91 Accord. Was about 12 years ago. We used a drill bit to rotate the latch arm off of the striker hook. Took about 2 hours, and the local Honda specialty shop said they would hire us to do them because we broke their record by several hours.

Your method looks even quicker. Wish YouTube was around back then! Thanks for posting.

2023 and this i still an awesome video. Bought an 05 for $100, but it had no brakes. I changed all the lines, and tossed on new hardware. Been driving the car for 3yrs, then one at a time the back doors wouldn't unlock. I had tried to repair one of them without success. Now, i'm ordering the latch and getting a hook and pick set. Thanks

Dude, you helped me a ton! I have a 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid that was locked inside and out. That hidden button underneath the latch assembly popped the door open. I understand why it's difficult to film, there is no way that is possible. Anyway, I took out the latch assembly gave it a few squirts of silicone spray and reinstalled it. Worked like a charm. You saved me $532.10, the cost my Honda Dealership quoted me. I wish I could give you a bear hug!

I should add that I temporarily had to use the old latch while the new one was ordered. To avoid having to pry the old trip lever which was VERY difficult I drilled a hole vertically through the latch and inserted a string through it and tied it to the trip mechanism... much easier to open the door when the replacement came!

Brian. I so appreciate your videos. You take the time to explain what you're doing and why. You are honest enough to admit defeat and I so appreciate this particular video because we, the viewer, can have a better sense of frustration that can be encountered when doing this kind of job. You also demonstrated, self control at a time when sleep is knocking at your door and patience (for most of us) has long since gone to sleep at that time of night. Totally, two thumbs up from me.

Major major major thumbs up!!! Took me over 2 hours to solve this puzzle but no way in hell I could have done it without the video. Just keep rewinding and watching and rewinding and watching once you get to the point where you're trying to locate the pin to pull. You will eventually be able to visualize it and familiarize yourself with the layout of it. Definitely must have a mirror in order to do this the first time. I promise that little pin is there though. I used the end of a wire clothes hanger to pull it. Just bend it to where it has the slightest little hook on the end. Too much and you won't be able to fit it in that tight spot to even latch on to the pin.

After watching this video a couple of times while waiting on my new part, I can DEFINITELY second that this method works. Dealer wanted $550!!
1999 Acura CL 2.3L 5-speed. Driver side door.
Once I found the small opening, I used an eyeglass screwdriver, and it didn't even take 1 minute. Of course getting past that door cover was the hardest part, as I don't have the middle pillar on my car. New subscriber you have, sir!

Thank you so much for this video. I went to Walmart to pick up the little hook tool, and then after many tries, finally got the door open for my Honda! I replaced the latch immediately,  

and now I don't have to go through the passenger seat. Thank you again Briansmobile!

I replaced the actuator on the front passenger door of a 2004 Accord only to find that I had a faulty latch and door was stuck. Thanks to this video, it took a few tries to wriggle the bent pick tool and to pull the "door handle cable" on the inside door panel simultaneously to unlock the door! Now to find a replacement door latch assembly!
