Rick James is a living legend for his contributions in the music industry. I would’ve wish he and Eddie Murphy would stayed friends til the end. He sued MC Hammer for sampling parts of his song Superfreak for that wack song U Can’t Touch This. I was never a huge fan of Hammer’s music. He took him to court for his name to be credited on the song. He always worked with Teena Marie on a lot of songs. He and Teena Marie had an unbelievable bond they shared when they were signed to Motown Records.

Got to see him every day for a few months when he was an inmate at the prison that I worked at. (CRC in Norco, Ca.) I saw him again at the Roxy Theatre in L.A. after he was released while standing in line to see reggae star Gregory Isaacs. He briskly walked by me, and they let him enter early and he went backstage and I didn't see him again.
