Pinned comment just in case yall check, I've enabled midroll adds on this video and only have beginning and ending ads on the complete book after discussing with the community here. Whatever your preference is, there's an option for you!

The revenue will just enable me to record at a higher frequency so I can crank out more classics! I also fully support just downloading the video if ya wanna do that. Thanks for being here, no matter what!

I think its very cool that so many of the kids care enough to come to check out the myth behind their video game.

Looking at the recent comments I think it’s awesome how a great video game can expose an iconic piece of ancient mythology to an audience that isn’t familiar with it in their region of the world.

Unbelievable you did the whole book! You have done the world a huge service by making Journey to the West accessible to so many people

1:53:15 Although the English translation refers to the Ruyi Jingu Bang's weight in pounds, the original Journey to the West uses the Chinese unit "jin." In ancient times, one jin was approximately 600 grams, meaning the iron staff weighs 8.1 tons. For a kid, a monkey who can effortlessly wield such a heavy weapon is incredibly cool. Almost every child in China who loves Journey to the West instinctively searches for sticks, tree branches, or plastic pipes to use as makeshift toys.

The version I'm reading now was written by Wu Cheng'en, but the earliest Journey to the West was probably written by the headless wandering singer in the game. In ancient times, people's literacy rate was not high. Many legends and stories were passed down orally by wandering entertainers. The earliest cultural relics are Dunhuang murals from the Xixia period from the 11th to 13th centuries AD. The story takes place in the Tang Dynasty (639 to 653 AD).

Thanks, I've been looking for an unabridged audiobook but couldn't find one. This is a blessing from heaven.

I’m so happy for this. A friend of mine got me into Lego monkie kid like 2-3 weeks ago and I fell down the rabbit hole of the original story. Osp did a great job getting me further into the lore but now I needed the full story and I’m so grateful to have found your channel! I love the little mistakes and the fact you say you need to look stuff up it makes it so much better in my personal opinion💜💜💜

Recently got into Lego Monkie Kid which led me to get interested in JJTW (abridged) and Black Myth Wukong. Now I'm finally here to listen to the source material! Coming up to 2 hours in and I'm having a delightful time. (For some reason I've found so many lines really funny. I think it might be the exaggeration like needing SWK's name and adress, the threat of ripping skin off for mentioning the patriarch, the five disasters. It's awesome xD) Thank you so much for your time and effort to help share this wonderful story :)

It's amazing seeing how much love was poured into Black Myth, in comparison to Dustborn being made out of hateful spite and Concord being in hopes of pandering to a miniscule crowd of people on twitter
