Tomas, you are so right. I am 68 and learning the guitar. I like your bit about 'version of yourself'. I come across many people who say they would like to learn an instrument but think it's too late. I always say it's never too late. Yes, you have to have the desire, practise and not compare yourself with others. Whilst I have had a guitar for a long time, it is only this year that I am making a determined effort to learn. So yes, I am better than I was 5 months ago but will never be a Jimmy Hendrix or a brilliant classical guitarist but I am happy. It helps structuring your practice time. I am self-taught with the help of yourself and others on YouTube. Thank you.

In my take, It's never too late to play the guitar but as a beginner myself, I'm 28 and started 2 months ago, I question myself on how long will it take to learn to play intermediate/advance songs that I really enjoy when I was young. When looking at the guitar solos people play and how easily they solo the guitar, that's when I go back to this question. But I do practice every day and have a guitar teacher to evaluate what I'm doing, his said I'm learning quite fast but when looking at the end goal, is near or far from a year or 2 or even more.

Will see what stores in the upcoming years.

For example,
Racer X Technical Difficulties
Johnny B. Goode Chuck Berry
Etc....

I started learning to play guitar at the age of about 56. A friend of mine called me one day and said "Let's learn to play guitar". As she spoke to me, it went through my head "Yeh, yeh....learning to play a musical instruments is for kids, not old folks like me and besides that lessons cost a lot of money." Anyway, she thought otherwise! Two days later she phoned me to say that our first lesson was to be at her house on Tuesday at 10 in the morning. I had a guitar at home so I went. We were a group of 4 woman and a teacher (who I didn't like). After the initial lesson, I went home and sat with the guitar and an instruction book and after trying to do what it said, discovered that I was capable of making some musical tones with the guitar. To make a long story short, the group held together for 6 lessons and broke up. I continued to make progress and must say that a good amount of it was to the credit of Tomas Michaud whose course I joined and through his lessons which are designed for my speed gave me the tools that I needed to play guitar in a manner, which if not professional, still sounds good enough to accompany songs and inspire my friends. I want to take this opportunity to thank Tomas, not only for the lessons themselves, but for the encouragement, support and understanding that he provides.

Never too old. If you have the desire to do something and interest just do it! Music etc.

dear sir
old is concept of mind.but definitely learning curve in aged (I will not say old) will be different than younger people.u will happy in knowing that I'm 53 and learning guitar since 2yr.without personal coach I am learning.I learned lot many things in guitar like
all scales at all position.arpigiois, notes on guitar
more than 50strumming patterns, and hundreds of songs.I know many more things are there to learn.
I am working on it.Most important part is, since I have been in touch with guitar I don't have free time, I am enjoying playing guitar like any sports.there r so many good things to share.but
I will stop here.
About age, again if u bother then only it will bother u.

I started at the age fo 67. I'm now 77 and I hope to continue to learn guitar for at least ten more years! In fact, I want a set of strings put in my Coffin, just in case I run into some of the great guitarists where-ever I go. Either way (up or down), I'm sure I'll see some great guitarists there! LOL
