Barrett's Oesophagus Screening Research | Oesophageal Cancer | Cancer Research UK

Researchers are looking at a new way of screening for Barrett's oesophagus. People in the trial swallow a capsule with a piece of string attached to it. This contains a cytosponge. Once the capsule has dissolved, the sponge is pulled out collecting cells from the oesophagus which are looked at in the lab for early changes to the oesophagus. This video shows what it is like to have the cytosponge test.
